Last week was SDHSAA Fall Officials Appreciation Week. Each year, these
officials attend clinics, region meetings, complete rules meetings and take exams in preparation for the sports season. During the season, these dedicated men and women take time away from their personal schedules and families to provide opportunities for the thousands of student-athletes that participate in SDHSAA activities. We want to thank all officials for your continued dedication to high school sports!

Second, third and fourth graders along with Ms Heffner and Ms Uttecht had an exciting recess at the end of the day. A little sprinkle turned into a downpour! Second graders were a little excited when they came in and some wanted to show everyone they got wet!
Monday, the kindergarten class was lucky to have one of their classmate’s mom’s be their “Mystery Reader!” They also did observations on worms for their nonliving vs living unit in science.

Weekly pre k recap!
Our littlest chiefs learned all about the letter M and the color blue this week!
A few fun highlights
💙they had a “mystery me” theater where they got to learn more about each other.
💙they had “mystery m&m’s”. Only two of the m&ms had the special letter m on them. The rest of their m&ms didn’t have the letter. (They were a dye-free brand)
💙 they learned all about “mat man” they sang, drew, and built mat man. Mat man is a great way to help kids learn the parts of the body and to draw a person.
💙they learned different ways to build the letter m. Their favorite was with marshmallows!
💙they love the “tree house” the book corner. They are learning they can read and looking at the pictures is a fun way to read! They love finding a “buddy” (stuffed animal) and a whisper phone to read to.
💙many light bulb moments happen during our centers and our outdoor classroom. The students are so excited to show everyone what they are learning (and turn on the light when they see something we are learning.)
💙they made a mixed media art project by making a mountain scene out of crayon, markers and watercolor.
💙they are learning to be kind and caring. They are starting to naturally share with their peers and are starting to learn to help others. They are so sweet!
Next week we will have a lot of fun with experiments as we do our five senses theme!
