SD School Board Recognition Week is January 11-15.  The Iroquois School Board Members were thanked by the Iroquois School Staff and Administration at the Iroquois School Board meeting on Monday for their leadership and dedication to our children and public education.

Regular Meeting

 Presiding:        Greg Blue, Chairman

 Present:           Greg Bich, Jerrad Fast, Mary Jane Fast, and Greg Schortzmann

 Visitors:           Superintendent/Elementary Principal Mark Sampson, Secondary Principal Rick Soma,

                        Steve DeJong, and Business Manager Jill Cundy

 Meeting called to order by Chairman, Greg Blue.

 Agenda approved as revised on motion by Schortzmann, second by J Fast and carried.

 Minutes approved as printed on motion by M Fast, second by Bich and carried.

 Bills and Financial Report approved on motion by J Fast, second by M Fast and carried.

 Superintendent / Elementary Principal Mark Sampson reported on evaluations, facilities, Title, and gave a Legislative update. 

 Secondary Principal Rick Soma reported that four and a half week grades will be going home.

 Business Manager Jill Cundy reported on the school board election notices and petitions.

 Steve DeJong, MS/HS Science Teacher, reported on the 4-Day School Week and gave a class update.

 Motion by Bich, second by J Fast to rescind the contracts of Zach Jacobs and Zach Weber for Co-Assistant Boys Basketball Coaches.  Carried.

 The first reading of the Bullying Policy was read.

 Motion by Schortzmann, second by M Fast to approve the one open enrollment.  Carried.

 Motion by Bich, second by M Fast to purchase TimeClock Plus Software from Data Management for $1345.00.  Carried.

 Sampson presented the tentative school calendar for 2010-2011.

 Motion by J Fast, second by Bich to approve the IEA negotiation team of Jessica Eckmann and Paula VanScharrel and the support staff negotiation team of Karen Bohlander and Marlys Peskey.  Carried.  Blue and Bich will negotiate with the teachers.  M Fast and J Fast will negotiate with the support staff.  Schortzmann will negotiate with the bus drivers.

 Motion by Bich, second by M Fast to hire Secondary Principal Rick Soma for the 2010-2011 school year, salary and contract to be set later.  Carried.

 Motion J Fast, second by Schortzmann to hire Business Manager Jill Cundy for the 2010-2011 school year, salary and contract to be set later.  Carried.

 Motion by M Fast, second by Bich to hire Mark Sampson for Assistant Boys Basketball Coach at $100.  Carried.

 Motion by Bich, second by Schortzmann to adjourn the meeting at 5:04 pm.  Carried.
